Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small neighborhood located in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. It is a bit of a mystery as the West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it is an island west of Montreal however the West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is often referred to as her birthplace. However, she only was there for a brief duration. Brugel became an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. She wanted to become a professional dancer but due to a rapid expansion, she surpassed the dance partners she had. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." When I surpassed my male counterpart, I stopped. Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was what pushed her to take the next step. Her teacher encouraged her to try out for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she take on a part in the annual school production. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. In the last 20 years, the roles played by Brugel on TV and the big screen have varied. The role of Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most memorable. Brugel was the sole Canadian actress in the season 1 and only appeared on occasion.
